MedSkill College Granted Authorization: A New Stage in Vocational Education in Healthcare

Share

MedSkill College in Tbilisi has received authorization from the LEPL National Center for Education Quality Development, allowing the college to implement a vocational nursing education program. The college aims to train qualified personnel for the healthcare sector through practice-based teaching and cooperation with the clinical sector.

The learning process places particular emphasis on respecting the patient as an individual, protecting their rights, and internalizing the ethical principles of care, which are among the fundamental foundations of nursing practice.

MEDSKILL was established in exclusive cooperation with the Georgian Healthcare Group. Its activities address one of the important challenges in healthcare: the need for qualified nursing staff. The college offers students a modern learning environment, study with professional lecturers, and the opportunity to gain practical experience in a real clinical setting.

Authorization and the college's development prospects

Receiving authorization is an important milestone for MEDSKILL, as it enables the college to implement a vocational educational program and lays the foundation for its further development.

"MEDSKILL received authorization from the National Center for Education Quality Development this summer. This authorization gives us the opportunity to implement the nursing education program. At the same time, we are working with international organizations to obtain international accreditations, which is an important direction of our future development."
— Giorgi Makharashvili, Director of the MEDSKILL College

One area of the college's international cooperation is its partnership with Washington Training Center, which aims to expand international educational opportunities for those seeking professional development in healthcare.

Practice-based teaching: the main component of professional training

In nursing education, applying theoretical knowledge in practice is especially important. Patient care requires not only professional knowledge but also the ability to act in a clinical environment, a sense of responsibility, and adherence to professional ethics.

MEDSKILL's vocational educational program "Nursing Education" is built on this principle. One of its main advantages is an 18-month practical component, which students will complete in partner clinics. The purpose of the practice is for students to gain professional experience during their studies, develop practical skills, and become familiar with the demands of the work environment.

"Unfortunately, medical schools are not always able to provide students with practice that matches the program and standards. As a result, after finishing their studies, a student may hold a diploma but lack sufficient practical knowledge. MedSkill offers students a unique opportunity: to complete the practical component in our partner clinics for a full year and a half. After successful completion of the program, we also ensure the students' employment."
— Giorgi Makharashvili, Director of the MEDSKILL College

Simulation-based training also holds an important place in students' practical preparation. The college's learning resources include anatomy and biochemistry laboratories, and a simulation center will be available to students at the Bokeria Clinic. These spaces will allow students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills.

Learning environment and modern teaching approaches

The MEDSKILL college operates at two addresses in Tbilisi: 16 Bochorma Street and 30 Kotne Dadiani Street. The learning environment is focused on students' professional development and the formation of practical skills.

The learning process uses interactive methods and learning materials based on digital platforms. Studying is possible both on-site and in a hybrid format.

The college's mission is to train highly qualified and competitive medical personnel through innovative, practice-based teaching. According to its vision, by 2032 MEDSKILL will become a leading center of medical vocational education in the region, distinguished by high-quality teaching, modern simulation technologies, and strong partnership with the clinical sector.

Nursing education program: fully funded study

MedSkill College offers a 33-month vocational program in nursing education, with studies starting on December 1. The program is fully funded by the state.

After completing the program, graduates will receive a state-recognized diploma. The college also states that it will ensure students' employment after successful completion of the program.

The nursing profession and employment opportunities

The role of a nurse in healthcare goes beyond performing medical procedures. The profession requires knowledge, responsibility, effective communication with patients, and adherence to ethical standards. Accordingly, one important task of vocational education is to train personnel who will apply theoretical knowledge in practice and act responsibly in the process of patient care.

MEDSKILL’s approach combines professional training, clinical practice, and employment opportunities. The college aims to give students a foundation for professional development and help them start a career in healthcare.

“Knowledge that serves life” is MEDSKILL’s vision, which unites the importance of professional knowledge, practical experience, and responsible patient care.
